NYC’s own Satan Mares formed in June of 2025. Fronted by Ira (pron. Eera, she/her) Oksman, a Russian born artist, the Satan Mares interweave Beat and Psychedelia with Slavic Avant-garde.

The Satan Mares is an extensive family of incredible musicians, and vary in terms of the line up and instuments. The most recent line up is Ira on vocal and rhythm guitar, Kim on bass and vocal, Frankie on drums, Ilse on keys and theremin, and Davey on sitar and flute.

The character of the Satan Mare is the main subject of Ira’s ongoing art series that’s deeply rooted in the Slavic lore and early 1900s surrealist avant-garde movement. To see the art series, head to iraoksman.com.
